I’ve always been an optimistic and positive person, and live by the saying, ‘count your blessings, not your sorrows.’ Even in our darkest moments during my pregnancy last year when we didn’t know how or when the complications would end, I took time to remind myself that although what was happening to us was terrible and terrifying, there were people who were much worse off and I still had so much to be thankful for. This year, I’ll be keeping a jar of memories and blessings, which will serve as a physical reminder of all the little things that have brought us joy over the year.
I’m guilty of buying lots of new books and then only reading a handful of them, the rest lying unloved on a shelf. Matt and I have decided to dedicate one night a week to going to bed early to enjoy reading – no technology allowed!
What are your hopes and wishes for 2013?

Excellent resolutions and plans for the new year Amy xx
Love your resolutions! I got back into reading mid-2012 and am so glad I did! The Nissan Figaro is adorable, there was a baby pink one parked in my estate a few days ago and it made me want one even though I can't drive! Hope 2013 is good to you 🙂 xx
Thanks Amy 🙂 The baby pink Nissan Figaro is the one I want, so cute! x
Love the car, such beautiful pictures in your posts! How do you get them looking so soft and girlie and pinkish?! Absolutely love them. I'm the same with the baking thing, constantly tearing out recipes from magazines but never actually creating them! A great set of resolutions 🙂 x
Great resolutions! I think the jar is such a great idea I think I'll do that myself to remind me of all the wonderful moments in my life and be grateful! xx

Great resolutions. I also want to read more books this year. I think we all get so attached to our laptops and phones we forget how nice is it to curl up on the sofa with a hot choc, wrapped in a blanket getting lost in a book!
I also may start driving lessons again after my wedding. I need to pay for that first before stressing myself out with driving!

Some really great resolutions Amy. I hope 2013 will be a better year for you!
I am planning to learn to drive again too, I also had a bad experience first time around but hoping to put that aside and build my confidence up again. I also hope to read more 🙂 xx
Loved this post Amy. Good luck with the driving. I didn't pass till my sixth exam! I was ready to give up but so glad I didn't. Keep it up! x
Your posts are always so beautiful 🙂 xo
This is a beautiful post.
Stick with the driving, it's the best thing I ever did learning to drive. Hopefully not all the instructors will give you a bad experience

This is so inspiring Amy – I hope 2013 brings you nothing but happiness and new, exciting experiences 🙂
You've inspired me to make a little jar of things I'm thankful for – it's such a great way to remind you to appreciate the things you do have, and not the things you don't 🙂
Steph xx
Such lovely resolutions. I have reason and baking on my New years resolutions. I hope we both stick to them and good luck with the others too!

Thank you Kelly x
I do hope that 2013 is a happier year for you.
Your reading resolution is a really good idea. Me and my boyfriend are both in our final year at university studying English Literature. I miss reading for 'fun', and when I finish my degree I will be taking a leaf out of your book. =] (didn't even mean to do that). especially the no technology rules.
Happy new year 🙂
I remember when I was doing English Lit for A Level I missed reading for fun too! Good luck in your final year 🙂 x
What a lovely post. I am so obsessed with your blog Amy, everything is absolutely perfect. I really admire your optimism and wish you and Matt nothing but happiness for 2013 xx
What a lovely comment Laura, thank you 🙂 x
such a beautiful and inspirational post. I have the same feelings regarding the driving and ironically it was another BSM instructor that put me off..but like you im hoping to get back into it. I wish you a happy new year and hope you will be one day blessed with a little family..xxx
Thank you so much for such a kind comment x
just to say I also had a terrible experience with a BSM instructor which really knocked my confidence. I think because they are such a large company they concentrate on statistics rather than the individual. I then found an independent driving instructor in my local area who was lovely and helped me conquer my fears – I know that if I can do it anybody can so go for it! 🙂
I've found a local instructor too with good feedback so fingers crossed it won't be long until I'm driving! x
They're such great goals for 2013. I'm sure that with your positivity you'll achieve them all this year. xx
I love how your resolutions are about your hopes to begin new and positive reinforcing activities. Too many people say what they plan to give up but yours seem so much more positive and a delight to read.
I too need to read for pleasure more, the last year I've been so bogged down with Uni work to make the time, whereas before you would never see my head out of a book.
I hope you achieve all of your goals (: best of luck and wishes for 2013 – I hope it's a good one for you.

I did the same when same thing happened to me, always try and be positive and appreciate all the good things in your life, which gave me confidence to set up my own little art shop.
Love the memories idea! Also would love to see more craft and home interior posts as these are my fav, I'm sure you'll do well in all things you want to achieve! xx

After completing 5 years of uni i thought the last thing I'd want to do for a few years was read a book….but after a few weeks it has becomes something that I cannot stop and I am speeding my way through books and loving it!
Your posts are always beautiful and I wish I could pull them off even half as pretty as yours!
