During the summer months, I like to keep my makeup routine basic and use lightweight products that help give glowing, radiant skin. It’s been a while since I shared my current makeup routine, so I thought I’d do a little step-by-step from start to finish.
I love this quote from François Nars; “makeup shouldn’t cover your skin, it should enhance your natural beauty, not mask it.” Since having children, the number of makeup vs. barefaced days has changed dramatically, so when I do indulge, I prefer to feel as though I’m not wearing anything, and the products I’m currently using help me to do exactly that. So here’s what adds a bit of life to my face on a daily basis right now….
NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturiser: I use a light layer in the shade Alaska all over my face, minding my eyebrows, and blending carefully around my forehead and jaw. I love how lightweight and easy this is to apply, plus it contains SPF 30 which is ideal for protecting the skin whilst also smoothing out the complexion.
Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector: This liquid highlighter (I use the shade Moonstone) gives an effortlessly beautiful, soft dewy glow to the skin. The light-reflecting pearls are ultra-fine which keeps it looking natural and healthy. I use it in two ways: either mixed together with my foundation/tinted moisturizer for an all over healthy looking glow, or applied to my cheekbones, brow-bones and down the bridge of the nose as a highlighter. I also love the Cover FX Custom Enhancer Drops in Moonlight.
NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer instantly masks imperfections, blurs the look of lines and wrinkles, and hides dark circles. My go-to concealer!
Soleil Tan de Chanel: For a quick contour of the cheeks, or to add some warmth to my skin, I love using this creamy bronzer.
Nars The Multiple: I prefer to use cream products to keep skin looking natural and glowing, so The Multiple in the shade Orgasm is the perfect product for adding a flush of colour that can easily be built up and reapplied throughout the day as needed.
Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara: I often go without mascara, but if I want to feel a bit more polished or look more awake, I’ll always finish with this. This is my favourite mascara to add length and a bit of drama, and I love the packaging, too.
Dior Addict Lipstick: Lastly, a bit of lipstick. This one has a beautiful balm-like texture, so it’s ideal for adding a natural and soft hint of color (I use the shade Delight) whilst giving a touch of gloss to the lips. If I want to add definition to my lips, I reach for Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencil in the shade Gubby, which acts as a good base for a balmy lipstick.
When I’m join for glowing skin, I use powder sparingly to set my under-eye concealer and on my nose, and finish with a spritz of NYX Dewy Setting Spray, which helps keep makeup in place whilst maintaining the glow that the other products have given.
L’Occitane Almond Smoothing and Beautifying Supple Skin: I had to mention one of my newfound favorite products. This almond oil smells amazing and I can quickly spritz it on my skin when I want instant moisture and soft, glowing skin.
